The symposium comprises two parallel programmes. The first really is dedicated to the future of a whole profession: the science of tomorrow, its challenges, changing working conditions, new methods and social implications. The second focuses on the specific challenges of individual disciplines – such as medicine, computer sciences, language and literature sciences, or engineering sciences – and their most important contributions to knowledge.
Accordingly, programme one will help to present FAU as a comprehensive university, and to discuss scientific challenges in a multidisciplinary manner. Here science is firmly in the foreground. In programme two, the representatives of the specialist disciplines will share their insights and expectations for the future of their subjects – with their specialised peers as well as interested representatives of the other disciplines.
